We appreciate you stopping by to our small chicken ranch, it means the world to me that you are here looking into our breeds. The listings below are for straight run chicks. I have provided some FAQ’s on these chicks for quick reference, scrolling to the bottom of this page will bring you to our breeds:

-We ship our chicks at 6 days of age, let us explain why. During the first few days of a chicks life they undergo an intense growth spurt. Their muscle cell number is determined in the first few days, affecting their future health and development. additionally, during these first days they are the most susceptible to disease and stress. By one week of age, the have begun to be able to regulate their body temperature and they are overall more sturdy. This first week sets them up for the rest of their life so we have opted not to send them during this crucial time. Instead we work hard to ensure they are eating and drinking as much as possible and being immersed in a stress free environment in preparation for either local pickup or their shipping adventure. If you are uncomfortable with week old chicks being shipped in the mail we understand and hope you find the colorful layers of your dreams with another breeder.

-Shipped chicks are sent with electrolyte gel, a 72 hour heat pack and feed.

-The price listed below is for one, straight run chick. Straight run is the term used to describe a chick whose gender is unknown. If you cannot have roosters, please do not checkout. I unfortunately cannot tell the males from females and do not determine ratios of each you receive. Thank you for your understanding.

-If you are looking for hatching eggs we unfortunately are not offering them at this time. Local pickup of a broody hen special will be available every Wednesday starting Mid April.

With that I will leave you with some insight into our chickens and breeding philosophy. Here at Opry Hill Farms, we love colorful eggs that are laid by friendly healthy chickens. This is and will always be my primary goal when I select for future generations. I would love for you to experience the absolute thrill of collecting eggs that make you jump for joy. Why colored eggs? I love to live a life that makes the ordinary extraordinary. You take the parts of your life that are a daily occurrences and wax poetic. Take your morning omelet for example. Step one: get yourself some backyard chickens. enter into the Joy, anticipation, thrill and awe you feel  by simply collecting an egg from a chicken who you raise and care for. Step two: make that egg colorful with blooms, spots, speckles and freckles galore. Now you have taken it to a level that you can hardly explain. Crack a green egg for breakfast and you will never go back Sam I Am.  Who knows, maybe this beautiful ripple effect will occur.
